Karen Duffy passed away in her sleep on Thursday, September 24th. Karen was a devoted mother, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt.
She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family. May she rest in peace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Karen well but found her very interesting and delightful. Please accept my deepest sympathies for her surprising and untimely passing.

I met Karen through Liza Kahn, her colleague at Smith Barney and my next door neighbor and very close friend in Manhattan. We were all in our thirties, single and enjoying life in the big city. I remember a ski trip to Vail with friends. Karen and I skied together since we were on the same level. She was very positive and confident and was not influenced by others. I remember her gently reminding me after skiing that "you do what YOU want to do, not what others want to do." Karen loved to cook. Her meals were delicious. She included me at a dinner party she had at her apartment on the Upper West Side as well as a wonderful barbeque at her home in New Jersey. She came out to South Hampton and barbequed for Liza and our housemates. As the years passed, I was thrilled to hear she adopted a little girl, as I knew she would make a great mother. I am deeply saddened by her passing. I will pray for her family. May she rest in peace and may God watch over her precious daughter.

I live three houses down from Karen and Caroline. I was deeply saddened to hear of her untimely passing. My most vivid memory occurred this past June when our daughters were playing at Robbins Park together. The automatic sprinkling system went off and we let them run through the sprinklers fully clothed. We laughed with them and each other. My prayers are with her family and her nanny, Carol, during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I didn't know Karen, I will always remember the gales of laughter rising from that backyard as she and Caroline played. Our thoughts are with sweet Caroline and her extended family.

Caroline attended preschool with my son Dean. Karen was clearly a loving and devoted mother. Even with her many demands it was obvious Caroline was her #1 priority and brought her great joby. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Caroline is missed at school. We wish her the best and are thankful she has a wonderful family to support her.
